Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Berane can then continue their accommodation search. In the centre of Berane, the Gavro Vuković Memorial House preserves his former study, library, personal belongings, sword and manuscripts.
Berane’s Main Street was designed in 1862 by the architect Rizvan-beg in the style of grand European urban boulevards. Restaurants, cafés and pastry shops along this street serve local specialities such as sweet kačamak, grilled trout and burek.
The Vakufska House is also located in the central town centre. It is a religious foundation from the Ottoman period associated with the town’s first public fountains and water supply. The Polimski Museum displays archaeological and ethnographic collections relating to the heritage of the Lim Valley and Polimlje.
In Kaludra, 9 kilometres from Berane, the Ćelije Monastery is located on the Kaludarska River; it contains a church reconstructed in 2001 and a reconstructed monastery complex. The Đurđevi Stupovi Monastery near Berane was founded in the early 13th century and is described as a spiritual and historical centre. The Šudikova Monastery is located 4.5 kilometres from Berane in the Tifran Gorge and is associated with a long-standing spiritual and cultural role.
Nature
The Lim River around Berane supports rafting, kayaking and fishing; its volume, temperature and diversity of fish are cited as reasons.
Berane’s visitor landscape combines the Lim Valley with the surrounding mountain areas of Bjelasica, Mokra, Cmiljevica and Turjak. These include glacial lakes such as Pešića, Šiška and Ursulovačka.
Walking and Activities
Berane has marked recreational hiking trails of under 10 kilometres, including the Berane–Tifran and Berane–Budimlja–Gradac routes. The second route connects the town with an archaeological and cultural site.
The Jasikovac park forest in Berane has well-maintained walking paths, rest areas and picnic spots.
