Andrijevica: Mountains, Rivers and Trails
Accommodation in Andrijevica
Andrijevica lies at the confluence of the Zlorečica and the Lim, in a landscape shaped by mountains. The municipality is surrounded by Komovi, Bjelasica and Prokletije. You can choose different focuses when planning your holiday: marked hiking trails and cycling routes, fly fishing on the rivers, or cultural and historical experiences. When choosing your holiday apartment, consider which of these themes should be at the centre of your trip.

Mountain Landscape and Hiking Trails
The Komovi massif is a defining feature of the municipality’s landscape. A part of the massif within the territory of Andrijevica is protected as a natural asset of local importance and assigned to Category II of protected areas. The highest peaks include Vasojevićki Kom at 2,461 m, Kučki Kom at 2,487 m and Ljevorečki Kom at 2,463 m.
Andrijevica has more than 100 km of marked hiking trails; the long-distance hiking route CT-1 also passes through the municipality.
Cycling and Rivers
The length of the designated routes is also a notable guide for cycling trips: Andrijevica offers more than 190 km of cycling routes. These are signposted with a high-quality wayfinding system. If you are weighing up hiking and cycling, you have two different figures to consider: more than 100 km of marked hiking trails and more than 190 km of cycling routes. The cycling route signage is another practical point to consider when planning your rides.
Fly fishing is associated with a clearly defined regulation. Most of the Lim and its tributaries within the municipality are reserved exclusively for fly fishing on a catch-and-release basis. The fly-fishing zone includes the entire course of the Kuckaja and Zlorečica, as well as 5 km of the Lim downstream from their confluence. Since Andrijevica lies at the confluence of the Zlorečica and the Lim, the river names and the precise extent of this zone are useful reference points for anyone interested. The outdoor activities also include rafting and paragliding.
History, Memorial Sites and Cuisine
Knjaževac Memorial Park commemorates the fallen fighters of the regional Upper Vasojevići Brigade in the Balkan Wars and the First World War. The park has monuments to fighters and victims of the Balkan Wars, the First and Second World Wars, and the conflicts of the 1990s. Its different historical associations make the park a place where several eras of regional remembrance come together.
Construction of the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael began in 1887, after Prince Nikola laid the foundation stone and donated money for its construction. In Namastir are remains that are thought to belong to the oldest church in the Polimlje region. Archaeological excavations there uncovered pottery dating from the Bronze Age and Late Antiquity. These sites offer a different way to experience the region than its trails and rivers, through architectural history, memorial sites and archaeological finds.
Vasojević cuisine associated with Andrijevica includes lamb, kačamak, cheese and yoghurt, served with jardum. These regional dishes add a culinary dimension to the natural and cultural attractions. For travel in the surrounding region, it is also worth noting that bus routes connect Andrijevica with all the places in the surrounding region. You can also include the subregions Andrijevica and Krajišta in your further explorations.
