Pezzan and Its Long History

Pezzan was first mentioned in 996 in a document issued by Bishop Rozone of Treviso. Also in 996, the Bishop of Treviso donated the woods, the village and the church of San Vito, as it then was, to Mogliano Abbey and the Benedictines. The name Pezzan is believed to derive from “fundus pettianus,” belonging to the settler Pettius, who lived in the 4th or 5th century. In the northern part of Pezzan, the connection with the ancient Via Postumia is another historical reference. A military airport was built across a large part of Pezzan’s territory; as a result of the expropriation of their properties, many families had to relocate.

Cycling Route and Orientation

The 53-kilometre “Pedalando Istrana” cycling route passes through fields and hedgerows and connects the route with Istrana’s historical memory. Its length of 53 kilometres provides a concrete framework for planning the cycling section; fields and hedgerows shape its course. For non-school transport in 2025, the timetable lists the stop “LOC.
