The parish church of Santa Maria Maddalena contains several noteworthy works. These include the “Pala di Santa Maria Maddalena” by Pietro Pajetta, the oil painting “Santissima Trinità fra le Sante Lucia e Giuliana” by Antonio Lazzarini from the late 17th or early 18th century, the anconetta “Il Sacro Cuore di Gesù” by Vincenzo Raccanelli, as well as numerous frescoes by Demetrio Alpago from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The Castelletto also offers a glimpse into the town’s earlier history. It was rebuilt in the 10th century after being damaged by the invasions of the Hungarians and was presumably one of the fortifications that served as strategic control points in the Cenedese area. The Castelletto is open only on the occasion of events. You should therefore plan an appropriate event date for a visit to the Castelletto.

You can find further artistic references on the “Artists’ Roads” in Cappella Maggiore. One work by Francesco da Milano, painted shortly after 1525, can be seen there. The oldest work is considered to be the “Last Supper”, dated to the beginning of the 14th century. Together with the “Last Supper”, the artistic period covered therefore extends from the beginning of the 14th century to the early 20th century.

Olive cultivation: grove, route and municipal olive mill

The experimental olive grove is located on a gently south-facing slope near the Castelletto di Cappella Maggiore. An information board provides details about the planting scheme and the varieties under cultivation. In addition, the municipal olive mill hosts educational and informative activities on olive cultivation.

The Olive Route “Alla scoperta dell’oro giallo di Cappella Maggiore” leads up the hill where the experimental olive grove is located and runs near the Castelletto. The route is therefore intended for visitors who would like to include the hill of the experimental olive grove and the vicinity of the Castelletto in their walk through Cappella Maggiore.

In the educational olive grove near the primary school, pupils and other interested visitors can learn about olive cultivation, the area and its characteristic products under the guidance of teachers, parents or other qualified staff.

The event “L’Olio della Serenissima 2026” was scheduled to take place in Cappella Maggiore from 10 to 19 April 2026. For the fourth consecutive year, it was organised by the municipal administration and the “La Ruota” association. The specific April dates should be taken into account as a separate date when planning a stay in Cappella Maggiore.
