The route to Campon d’Avena begins at the car park behind Fonzaso Town Hall, initially passing through the historic town centre along Via Mezzaterra and Via Calzen, and then continuing along the old mule track known as Galina. At Cima Loreto, this route opens up views across the Cismon Valley and the Monte Grappa massif.

From a walk around town to a long-distance trail

The Giro dei Loch is a 5.50 km community leisure walk for primary and lower secondary school students from Fonzaso, through the town’s streets and to the Loch di Fonzaso. The Cammino Retico can be walked in seven days, is approximately 170 km long and passes through ten municipalities in Veneto and Trentino. It also runs through the historic town centres of Fonzaso, Arsiè, Seren del Grappa, Cesiomaggiore, Feltre and Pedavena. The different lengths help you plan active days.

Rock and views as special experiences

The Falesia di Fonzaso offers about 40 technical climbing routes on edges and in pockets. The approach follows the signposts to the Eremo di San Micèl and takes about 20 minutes.

Historical traces in the town

The local history includes the Roman Via Paolina, a branch of the Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, which passed through the Fonzaso area, and Villa De Pantz in the main town. It is one of the most significant surviving architectural testimonies to the town’s heyday in the 18th century. At the Festa dell'Uva 2025, a traditional parade with allegorical floats through the town’s streets was announced for Sunday, 28 September 2025.

Wine and products from the heights

Wine-growing in the Fonzaso area is an old tradition that has been preserved to this day. At an altitude of 1,497 m lies Malga Campon, an agricultural guesthouse with a restaurant and, at the same time, a dairy that sells dairy products and cured meats.

Connections to consider when choosing your location

The SS 50 del Grappa e di Passo Rolle connects Fonzaso westwards with Primiero and eastwards with Feltre, 9 km away, and Belluno, 40 km away. When choosing your accommodation, you can consider this connection as well as your planned priorities: local trails, long-distance hiking, climbing, history or regional specialities. If you rent a holiday apartment in Fonzaso, your choice of location can therefore remain focused on specific experiences.
