Colle Santa Lucia combines views across the Val Fiorentina with a striking mountain backdrop: Pelmo and Civetta rise behind the panorama. The eastern half of Passo Giau lies within the municipality of Colle Santa Lucia; the pass is used by hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists.

Hiking trails with different starting points

The suggested section of the Strada de la Vena runs between Colle Santa Lucia and Castello di Andraz. At Maso di Troi, along the easternmost section of this road, you can see the remains of old mines and a restored mine entrance that can be explored for a few dozen metres. The higher historic route of the Strada de la Vena leads to Pianaz and can be completed on foot in 5–6 hours.

The Alta Via dell’Orso also offers two starting points: the orange route begins in the historic centre of Colle Santa Lucia, while the green route starts at Rifugio Fedare on Passo Giau. CAI trail 463 leads from Colle Santa Lucia to Rifugio Fedare and is 7.5 km long.

Culture and mining

In the historic centre of Villagrande in Colle Santa Lucia, Casa Piazza stands on the main road. The building is recognisable by a round arch that allows passage along a former mule track. The Chiesa di S. Lucia at Via Villagrande 29 is home to the Meridiana, a fresco sundial dating from 1606.

Cesa de Jan was built between the late 16th and early 17th centuries by the Chizzali brothers; the year 1612 is inscribed above the entrance. Cesa de Jan houses permanent exhibitions on the history, customs and traditions of the Colle area. In this way, the historic centre complements the mountain trails with tangible insights into regional architectural styles and traditional ways of life.

The history of mining includes the Miniera dei Vauz, a 17th-century mine in the area of the Miniere del Fursil. The entrance can be reached by minibus; a guide then accompanies visitors during the short tour inside the mine. The iron-bearing ore extracted from the Miniere del Fursil was suitable for weapons production because of its high value.

Colle Santa Lucia can be reached by bus from Mestre, Mogliano and Treviso to Caprile, and then with Dolomitibus.
