Discover Arabba: Sellaronda and Marmolada

Arabba combines high-altitude mountain landscapes, winter experiences, scenic trails and impressive traces of the First World War. The Arabba-Marmolada ski area is directly connected to the Marmolada Glacier, which offers a skiing experience at 3,342 metres. Around the village, trails, via ferratas and routes lead to mountain passes, lakes and viewpoints.

Winter days and family experiences in Arabba

Arabba FunPark is a family-friendly snow course with small jumps, rollers, steep turns and obstacles. It is located at almost 2,000 metres in a sunny and peaceful part of the Arabba-Marmolada ski area. The FunPark can be reached by the Le Pale chairlift, which connects the Burz area with the Bec de Roces area.

As a winter alternative to skiing, Arabba also offers snowshoe excursions. The Panoramic Tour Arabba uses the ski lifts to reach high-altitude viewpoints such as Porta Vescovo and Passo Pordoi.

The Sellaronda road cycling loop starts and ends in Arabba.

Mountain trails with lakes, passes and sweeping panoramas

The Sentiero Geologico di Arabba begins at the 19th hairpin bend on the road to Passo Pordoi and reaches Lake Col Vescovo via a comfortable dirt road. The Arabba–Pizac hike leads to Pizac at 2,222 metres; from there, it offers a panorama over Alto Agordino. From Piza, you can return to Arabba via the Teriòl de le Velme, the so-called Alder Trail No. 699.

Viel dal Pan is an old path that connected the Ladin areas with the Belluno area and was used by flour traders.

Via ferratas and traces of the First World War

The approach to the Ferrata delle Trincee begins in Arabba. From there, you can take the cable car to Porta Vescovo and reach the via ferrata entrance in 15 minutes. The via ferrata passes through an area with fortifications and tunnels carved into the rock. Branches lead to machine-gun positions and observation points on the Marmolada, bearing witness to the importance of the area in connection with the First World War. After passing the Bivacco Bontadini, which is surrounded by numerous military remnants, the Ferrata delle Trincee ends at Passo Padon.

The Sentiero Geologico di Arabba also includes caves, trenches, a massive flight of stairs and a water collection basin dating from the First World War. On skis, the Giro della Grande Guerra ski circuit passes remnants, trenches and forts from the First World War.

In Arabba itself, Il Vecchio Mulino di Arabba is considered a memorial site and a masterpiece of simple mechanics. Its gears, made of very hard wood, are still perfectly preserved.
