Hiking trails with different routes
One hike to Monte San Pancrazio led past Croce di San Valentino and along Trail 637 past Sacro Speco, before returning to Vasciano. The return route to the village is part of this itinerary. Another hike organised by the Club Alpino Italiano to Monte San Pancrazio began at Castello di Vasciano. One route ends in Vasciano, while the other begins at Castello di Vasciano. When planning a trip, the different starting and finishing points can be considered separately.
The first hike passes Sacro Speco; the programme of the “Passeggiata d’Autunno” also included a stop there on the way to Monte Ventatoglio. Croce di San Valentino and Trail 637 are part of the return route to Vasciano, while Castello di Vasciano marks the beginning of the second hiking tour.
An announced autumn trail
The traditional “Passeggiata d’Autunno” through the mountains of Vasciano was announced for Sunday, 28 September. On the way to Monte Ventatoglio, the programme included a stop at Sacro Speco. When planning an outing for this date, Sunday, the mountain destination and the planned stop at Sacro Speco can be considered as separate reference points.
San Biagio and San Rocco
The parish church of San Biagio stands in the village. It probably dates from the 12th or 13th century and was modernised between the 16th and 17th centuries. Directly outside the built-up area is Chiesina di San Rocco, a small cemetery chapel. The locations of the two religious buildings differ: San Biagio stands in the village, while San Rocco is directly outside the built-up area.
A name from music history
Vasciano (Narni) is also associated with Asprilio Pacelli. The composer and choirmaster was born in Vasciano (Narni) in the 1560s.
