Discover Seano: Art, Trails and Holiday Apartments
Seano combines a large sculpture complex, an early medieval parish church, trails with different focuses and regular events throughout the month and year. When choosing a holiday apartment in Seano, you can plan your trip according to your preferred focus: art and architectural history, activities along the water, markets or local traditions.
Sculptures and sacred architectural history
The Parco Museo Quinto Martini in Seano is a three-hectare green area with 36 bronze sculptures by Quinto Martini. With its considerable size and unified focus on sculpture, the complex makes a distinctive cultural contribution and offers a concrete reason to engage with the artist’s work.
Pieve San Pietro in Seano is part of the area’s sacred history. The early medieval parish church was recognised as a church belonging to the Bishop of Pistoia on 25 February 998; a document issued by Otto III records it in this context. Its façade was extensively redesigned in 1928 and features a portal and two biforas in the Neo-Romanesque style. In the lower section, the masonry consists of regularly hewn sandstone blocks dating from the 12th to the 13th century.
Trails along the Torrente Furba
The trails also offer different experiences. The Anello della Furba circular trail begins at the car park of the Parco Museo Quinto Martini in Seano. After the Ponte Nero, it follows the more natural-looking section of the Torrente Furba, with bends and stone weirs. Le Vie dell’Acqua is a natural history, cultural and historical-artistic trail; its first section runs along the Parco Museo and beyond the Casa Studio. This allows you to choose between a circular trail featuring the stream and weirs and a more broadly themed trail.
The Casa Studio Quinto Martini in Seano is open by prior appointment on the second and fourth Saturday and Sunday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you plan this visit, take the fixed opening times and the need to book in advance into account.
Markets and festivals throughout the year
Regular events include La soffitta in Piazza, held in Seano on the second Sunday of every month, except in August. Campagna in piazza is a market for organic and natural products held on the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The two events complement the cultural and trail-related themes with recurring market dates.
The Festa del Crocifisso di Seano honours a wooden crucifix behind the main altar of the Church of San Pietro in Seano. Every five years, it culminates in a historical procession with 250 participants in costume. During the Festa della battitura, the grain harvest and grape harvest are reenacted in Seano every year. The events thus range from sacred tradition to depictions shaped by agriculture.
Holiday Apartment in Seano: Combining Culture, Trails and Festivals
When choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home in Seano, you can base your personal selection on your preferred daily programme. Those interested in culture can combine the Parco Museo Quinto Martini with Pieve San Pietro, while trail enthusiasts can make the Anello della Furba or Le Vie dell’Acqua the focus of their visit. If different interests come together in your travel group, markets and festivals offer further clearly defined occasions to include in your plans.
