The original Church of San Concordio di Moriano was rebuilt and extended to three naves in the 19th century. Its bell tower dates from 1801. From 1912 onwards, the choir, dome, high altar and marble floor were created; restoration work and the construction of the altar of Our Lady of Sorrows were completed in 1938–1939. The Bernardini family's patronage over the church lasted for more than 900 years and ended in 1924.

The church is dedicated to the martyr San Concordio. His feast day is 1 January, while 2 January is observed liturgically. As early as 997, the area of San Concordio di Moriano was referred to as „terra di S. Concordio“. The area's historical record therefore reaches far back and complements the later structural changes with an early reference to its name.

Hiking around Montecatino

A hiking route of the Club Alpino Italiano Barga leads along Via Maulina to the Church of San Concordio di Moriano. It then initially climbs along a paved road, followed by an unpaved road and finally a trail to the Torre di Montecatino at an altitude of 483 metres. The Montecatino loop begins in the square in front of the church and reaches Montecatino Hill at 480 metres. The Anello di Montecatino begins at the church and reaches a 483-metre-high summit with the Torre di Montecatino bell tower and the ruins of the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata. The Montecatino loop passes through olive groves, chestnut woods and oak stands. The Anello di Montecatino runs through vineyards, olive groves, and oak and chestnut woodland. On the return journey, the Montecatino loop passes through Le Querce, La Cappella and Arsina before returning to San Concordio di Moriano.
