Balbano between the edge of the settlement and the countryside

At the edge of the settlement of Balbano lies the Parco della Rimembranza di Balbano in a rural, agricultural area outside the town. The railway line to Viareggio is nearby. The park is therefore located at the transition between settlement and farmland, not in a town-centre square.

Ruins and palaces in the surrounding area

The Balbano–Padule di Massaciuccoli trail connects Balbano with Padule di Massaciuccoli. A length of 2,000 is specified for Balbano–Compignano. Sentiero 00 is therefore the destination of two trails, while the trail to Padule di Massaciuccoli has a different destination. The two Innesto designations refer to two different trails to Sentiero 00; the second is associated with difficulty level E for hiking. For the trail to Compignano, the length of 2,000 supplements the specific trail description. The different trails can be planned individually for a day of hiking.

Monte Balbano: an ascent for active days

The ascent of Monte Balbano covers 100 metres of elevation gain over three kilometres, while the maximum gradient is 4 percent. For a cycling tour, the length, elevation gain and maximum gradient of this ascent can be considered together. These values belong to the ascent of Monte Balbano and therefore form a separate point of reference alongside the hiking trails around Balbano.

Bus route 58 through Balbano

The urban bus route 58 runs along the Verdi–Nozzano–Balbano route. The order runs from Verdi via Nozzano to Balbano and connects the three local references within a single route. For travel planning involving buses, this route is the specific transport connection for the locality. It complements the trails and ascent with another form of transport.
