The WWF Padule Orti Bottagone Oasis is a 126-hectare regional nature reserve within the municipality of Piombino. It lies within Special Area of Conservation IT5160010, Special Protection Area IT5160010 and a Ramsar site. The Sterpaia Coastal Park includes an 8-kilometre-long sandy beach awarded a Blue Flag, 124 hectares of dunes and back dunes, and 155 hectares of woodland and agricultural clearings. As a result, the regional surroundings offer not only beaches but also considerably larger natural areas to explore.

The visitor centre of the WWF Padule Orti Bottagone Oasis is located on the SP40 “Base Geodetica” between Piombino and Riotorto. Roads branch off from the so-called Geodetica, providing access to the Sterpaia Coastal Park and its beaches; the Geodetica connects Piombino with Riotorto. Fiorentina also has the Fiorentina posta bus stop, served by routes 031, 011, 02A and 26I.
