Venturina combines nature observation, technological history, ancient traces and beaches into a destination with a variety of ideas for each day. When choosing a holiday apartment in Venturina, you can tailor your plans according to whether you want to combine landscapes, regional history, cycling, distinctive buildings or excursions in the surrounding area.
Lakes and birdlife at Parco dei Laghetti
Parco dei Laghetti stretches between the districts of Tufaia and Caldana. Along the Fossa Calda River, it includes two artificial lakes. Migratory birds and resident bird species use the park as a refuge. This makes nature a clear contrast to the museums and historic sites that are also part of exploring the area around Venturina. For families with different interests, a day of holiday can therefore be mentally divided between observing the landscape and experiencing culture, without limiting the trip to just one type of experience.
Machines, mausoleums and a hot-water lake
The Museo della Civiltà del Lavoro documents the rural and productive activities typical of the Val di Cornia. On display are large-scale machines, including water-lifting machines used for land reclamation, printing machines, equipment for mechanical workshops and so-called “Hot-Head” tractors. The visit thus focuses on the world of work, technology and the economically oriented activities of the Val di Cornia.
The Mausoleo romano di Caldana is also known as the Mausoleo di Caio Trebazio and dates from the 1st century. Today, it preserves only the supporting structure. The building has a rectangular floor plan and is located approximately at the intersection of Via dei Molini and Via Mattarella. The Oratorio di Santa Lucia, a small religious building from the 16th century, is also noteworthy. It stands above the Bottaccio, a hot-water lake formed by thermal springs.

Several destinations with different historical focuses are located around Venturina: the ancient site Parco Archeominerario di San Silvestro, the museum Centro di documentazione di Villa Lanzi, the ancient site Miniera del Temperino and the museum Necropoli di San Cerbone. They are joined by the beaches Ultima Spiaggia, Altamarea, Fosso alle Canne and Mirollino. This selection combines museums, ancient sites and seaside themes, making it easier to define the character of your trip as early as when choosing your holiday apartment.
Cycling route and beer festival
There is also a specific connection for planning an active day: the cycling route stage “Among the villages of the Costa degli Etruschi” reaches Venturina Terme after crossing the Aurelia bridge via minor roads. The 15th edition of the beer festival was scheduled as an event featuring typical Bavarian cuisine modeled on Oktoberfest at the Venturina Terme fairgrounds from Friday, August 21, to Saturday, September 5, each day from 7:30 p.m. to midnight.
