The archaeological area near San Martino di Vervò has also yielded traces of human presence from prehistoric times through the Early Middle Ages.

A scenic road along the edge of the Pongaiola Gorge leads to the Church of San Martino. The bell tower of the Church of San Martino bears a devotional fresco of Saint Christopher. The old Church of San Martino has been rebuilt since the 16th century and features several historical and artistic details. Seventeen Roman inscriptions have been found in Vervò.

Vervò is home to recurring frescoes with sacred depictions, sundials and coats of arms. These motifs add visible traces from different periods to the village’s historical character.
