Holiday apartment in Torcegno – between chestnut groves and Lagorai trails
Torcegno combines a broad plateau with centuries-old chestnut groves, paths through the countryside and remarkable traces of regional history. When choosing a holiday apartment in Torcegno, you can plan your stay around a wide range of experiences: walks through valleys and pastures, trekking trails to the mountain pastures, a mountain bike tour or a cultural walk through the village.
Chestnut groves, valleys and trails into the Lagorai
The landscape around Torcegno can be explored in various ways. After leaving the built-up area, the Nordic walking circuit initially follows a route beneath centuries-old chestnut trees. In the final section, it runs along narrow country roads, while views open up over the surrounding mountains and Torcegno. In the Suerta, Musiera, Cavè and Porcheria valleys, walks lead through pastures and past mountain huts; along the way, you will see carefully restored old farmhouses.
A notable starting point for trekking is Malga Valarica di Sopra with its Centro Natura e Trekking. At an altitude of 1,703 m, it is the first stop on several trekking trails leading to various mountain pastures in the Lagorai. The ruins of Castel San Pietro are also among the possible destinations: from the Chiesetta di Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, a path leads to the ruins and onward to the summit of Monte Ciolino. Depending on your preferred itinerary for the day, you can therefore choose between a landscape-focused circuit and a route with a historical destination.
Churches and local history
The parish church is dedicated to the holy apostles Bartholomew and Andrew. It was built in 1327, rebuilt in 1430 and consecrated in 1586. The church also contains the Stations of the Cross, created by Valentino Rovisi of Moena together with his daughter Vincenza in 1775. The cemetery chapel was probably built in 1849, when the new cemetery was established. For getting around locally, it is important to know that this chapel has an accessible, clearly signposted entrance.
Mountain bike tour with a mountain pasture and cheese experience
Torcegno also offers a specific way to explore the area actively by bicycle. The Giro Val di Cavè mountain bike tour starts in Località Campestrini in Torcegno. It includes a stop at the characteristic mountain pastures, where you can sample cheese made using traditional methods. The tour thus combines physical activity with an insight into a regional speciality, without requiring the landscape and local culture to be viewed separately.
Another natural spot is located near Malga Casapinello on the Sentiero dei Larici. There is a small body of water there, surrounded by larches and equipped for barbecuing. Depending on whether you prefer trails to mountain pastures, scenic views, historical sites or time spent in nature, your stay can take on different focuses. Torcegno is therefore suitable as a destination for a holiday apartment if you want to match your choice of accommodation to the specific interests of your travel group.
