Mezzano: Art, Gardens and Trails
Mezzano lies in the Primiero Valley at the foot of the Pale di San Martino. Works of art distributed throughout the village, around 250 gardens in Mezzano and its hamlets, and trails with views of mountains, meadows and a lake give a stay several different facets. This mix is relevant when choosing a holiday apartment in Mezzano if you would like to combine culture and outdoor activities.
Art, Museums and Crafts in Mezzano
The permanent exhibition “Cataste & Canzei” comprises 26 works of art distributed throughout the village. The Tabià del Rico is an ethnographic museum; its objects tell the story of life and work in Mezzano in the past. In this way, works of art throughout the village are complemented by insights into everyday life in earlier times.
At the Tabià del Checo, works by local craftspeople and products from local agricultural and food producers are displayed in modern cubic showcases. These include Zeni scultori, Gianluigi Zeni, Artelér, Artistica legno GT, Macelleria Bonat, Bionoc’ and La Rondine.
During the Sedia Rossa experience, ringing a bell on a red chair summons a person who lives nearby. They provide visitors with information and tell the story of Mezzano and its mountains. The Lisiera is the only one of its kind in the whole of Trentino to be protected by the Soprintendenza.
Special Places and the History of the Landscape
The Chiesetta di San Giovanni Battista dates back to 1514. It was built so that charcoal burners and farmers who stayed in the area for several months to work could attend Sunday Mass there.
Mezzano and its hamlets are home to around 250 gardens with vegetables, flowers, herbs, fruit trees and climbing vines. These gardens complement the cultural sites with a view of cultivation and design that is directly connected to the village.
Circular Trails with Mountain and Lake Views
The San Giovanni–Falasorni circular trail is an easy and well-marked hike above Mezzano. The Anello Poit–Cordognè–San Giovanni circular trail offers views of the Pale di San Martino, Monte Pavione, the green meadows of San Giovanni and the turquoise Lago della Val Noana.
The cycle and pedestrian path also leads from Molarèn through well-maintained meadows, with views of the Pale di San Martino, to Fiera di Primiero. Together with the circular trails, this provides a choice between an easy hike, trail sections with scenic views, and a route for cyclists and pedestrians.
Holiday Apartment in Mezzano: Combining Culture and Trails
The “Mezzano Romantica” tour follows themed paths focusing on water, gardens, rural architecture, frescoes and artistically designed woodpiles. When choosing a holiday apartment or accommodation in Mezzano, you can use your preferred daily rhythm as a guiding question: should art, crafts and gardens be the focus, or are circular trails, mountain views and the route to Fiera di Primiero more appealing to you? This allows you to tailor your stay to your own interests without setting the different sides of the village against one another.
Other destinations you can include in your travel planning are Ronchi Valsugana, Caderzone, Locca, Fontanazzo, Mattarello, Marcena, San Bernardo and Stenico.
