Holiday apartment in Lagolo: landscape, trails and culture
Lago di Lagolo is an alpine karst lake. It lies at an elevation of about 950 m and has an elliptical basin measuring approximately 250 × 140 m; its maximum depth is 7 m. When choosing a holiday apartment in Lagolo, you can consider this landscape as one of several focal points of your trip.
A reed wetland is located along the shores of Lago di Lagolo. It contributes to water purification and retains sediment. At the same time, the reed area provides habitats for the nesting of waterfowl. If you are interested in observing nature, this distinctive lakeside area is one of the lake’s specific features.
Easy circular route or more elevation gain
The 1.5 km-long, flat and easy circular trail around Lago di Lagolo is suitable for families with children and pushchairs. This provides a clearly defined option for a shared walk where the trail requirements remain manageable.
The “Senter de le Mule” hiking trail is more challenging. It has 183 m of elevation gain, takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and is not suitable for pushchairs. The differences between the flat circular trail and this route can help you adapt your daily plans to age, fitness level and preferred hiking pace.
Sentiero 618 leads from Piana delle Viote to Lago di Lagolo. The VIOTE–LAGOLO route passes by the Caverna and the Sorgente Stengiador. On variant 1 – Bivio Viote – Strada per Malga Brigolina, the route is not signposted.
Lakeshore, fishing and stand-up paddling
Spiaggia di Lagolo is a freely accessible, unequipped beach. Lifeguard service is scheduled there from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fishing with a licence is permitted at Lago di Lagolo from May to October every day except Thursdays.
At Lago di Lagolo, Bar Bufo offers stand-up paddleboard, or SUP, rental.
Church and Malga connections
The church of Lagolo was converted from the stable of an abandoned malga and dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta. It was blessed in 1970. Inside, a distinctive exposed wooden roof structure shapes the interior.
Malga di Lagolo includes the Casara, also known as Ex Malga Lagolo, which is associated with the year of construction 1905. The seasonal transhumance of livestock at Malga di Lagolo took place from the beginning of June to the end of September. These two connections add concrete insights into building design and former alpine pastoral farming to your stay.
When choosing your holiday apartment in Lagolo, your preferred daily rhythm can help: family time by the lake and a flat trail lead to different planning than elevation gain and longer walking times. Water activities, the natural environment, as well as the church and Malga connections provide additional focal points. This allows you to tailor your accommodation to easy-going, active or culture-oriented holiday days.
