From Fontanazzo, the SAT 577 trail also leads on foot through Val de Dona; the walking time is approximately two and a half hours, and the difficulty level is EE. The “Il cammino dei pitores” trail leads through Mazzin and Fontanazzo; from there, walks begin towards Val Udai and Val di Dona.

Along the Fiemme-Fassa cycling and walking route, there are picnic areas, fountains and playgrounds. The “Pista ciclopedonale delle Dolomiti di Fiemme e Fassa” runs along the Avisio through meadows, forests and villages.

Fontanazzo with its Ladin village history

The bronze monument “l Pèster de Fascia”, also known as “El Pèster de Fascia”, was created in 1983 by sculptor Rinaldo Cigolla. The statue stands next to the town hall of Fontanazzo di Sotto and the Madonna del Carmine church and has become a symbol of the Fassa Valley. The Madonna del Carmine church in Fontanazzo di Sotto is a 17th-century church with a distinctive bell tower clad in wooden shingles. The town hall is decorated with a fresco of the patron saint Santa Giuliana and four bas-reliefs depicting former hunting, forest management, wool spinning, agriculture and livestock farming. In the wider regional area around Mazzin and Fontanazzo, some of the oldest remains of the Rhaetian population in the valley were found on the left bank of the Avisio, including the remains of an ancient fortress. They are kept at the Museo Ladin di Fascia.

The cross-country skiing circuits in the Mazzin–Campitello cross-country skiing area are suitable for beginners and are groomed daily by the operator. The Rodolon cross-country ski trail is located near Fontanazzo and is lit twice a week for nighttime cross-country skiing excursions.
