Holiday apartment in Coredo: lakes, paths and Venetian culture
Coredo combines rural tradition, Venetian architectural heritage, wood art and a diverse lake landscape. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Coredo, you can tailor your stay to very different interests: museums and palaces, level paths for walks together, or cycling and nature experiences around the Laghi di Coredo and Tavon.
Holiday apartment in Coredo between museums and palaces
At Casa Marta, the Museo etnografico della gente contadina d’Anaunia is dedicated to the rural tradition of the Anaunians. The Museo dei costumi there also presents traditional costumes and folklore from around the world. Casa Marta itself is a Venetian palace with origins in the 16th century. After extensive restoration work, the building was opened for exhibitions and events.
The Palazzo Nero was the seat of justice from around 1460 to 1475. Its Sala del Giudizio contains a fresco cycle with an Austrian adaptation of the stories of Saint Genevieve. Castel Coredo adds to this historical focus: the present-day building dates from 1726. It can only be visited by prior reservation as part of a guided tour at set times; independent access is not possible.
Wood art, paths and special experiences
The Museo del Legno di Coredo is housed in Coredo’s historic Venetian sawmill. A permanent outdoor exhibition there offers a sensory and tactile experience with wood. The sculpture “Le Streghe” by Gianni Mascotti is also connected with the Inquisizione d’Anaunia of the 17th century in Coredo. Every August, sculptures are created on the shores of Lago di Coredo during the Simposio Internazionale di Scultura su Legno; the finished works are placed along the path.
For walks, the Viale dei Sogni is a good option. This level forest path, suitable for everyone, follows an old irrigation channel called “lez” to two lakes and a recreation area. Predaia Arte Natura is an accessible circular route near Parco “Alla Torre” above Coredo, in the Dossi area. Another route leads from Coredo to the Santuario di San Romedio, passing two lakes, a small waterfall and a biotope along the way.
The different types of paths make it easier to adapt your daily plans to your group. For an active outing, the Gran Tour Predaia Gravel is also available: the cycling route is 49 kilometres long, includes 1,630 metres of elevation gain and heads towards the Laghi di Coredo.
Lake landscape and outings with children
The Laghi di Coredo e Tavon are artificial basins separated by a dam, built in 1958 for irrigation. The Due Laghi area is also known as Località Palù and has a large equipped park with picnic areas, a beach volleyball court and a large children’s playground. Sport fishing is possible in Lago di Coredo without a fishing licence if a permit is paid for.
When choosing your holiday apartment in Coredo, you can therefore consider whether culture, walking paths, cycling, lakes or relaxing hours in the park should be your main focus. This allows you to create a personal mix of discovery and relaxation from the documented activities, without every day of your holiday having to follow the same rhythm.
