Almazzago between forest trails and local history

Almazzago can be experienced from several different perspectives: the Cammino di Carlo Magno, the trails to Malghetto di Almazzago and the historic buildings in the village. The Cammino di Carlo Magno through Almazzago

The tenth stage of the Cammino di Carlo Magno leads to Daolasa and then through Almazzago before reaching Dimaro. The Cammino reaches Almazzago from Daolasa via an uphill trail through the forest. Within Almazzago, it follows the main road to the turnoff for Via per Liberdon. From Almazzago, the route descends along a paved road before reaching the cycle path. This means that the route within the village features changing trail conditions: the forest section is followed by the main road and later the paved connection to the cycle path.

To Malghetto di Almazzago

An easy route leads from the cable-car base station area in Folgarida to Malghetto di Almazzago. Malghetto di Almazzago is a viewpoint overlooking Dimaro and the entire lower Val di Sole. From Marilleva 1400, the route crosses a small valley and then follows an initially narrow, unpaved trail through dense coniferous forests to the destination. In winter, the “Al Malghetto di Almazzago” snowshoe route runs from Folgarida via Malghetto di Almazzago to Marilleva 1400. The variants described therefore range from an easy route to an initially narrow forest trail, combining physical activity with views across the valley.

San Rocco, Liberdon and the upper part of the village

In the historic center of Almazzago stands the chapel dedicated to Saint Roch, known in Italian as San Rocco. It was built between 1511 and 1513 as a result of a vow made by the inhabitants in connection with the plague of 1510. The church is dedicated to Saint Roch and Saints Fabian and Sebastian. Liberdon is another part of the village: it lies in the lower section of Almazzago toward the Noce River and consists of a small group of rustici, now converted into residential homes. In the upper part of Almazzago, a road leads to Folgarida.
