Santo Stefano lies at the foot of the Kronplatz ski area and presents itself as a place among meadows, paths and mountain scenery. A hike from Kronplatz via Stefansdorf to Reischach leads from the summit of Kronplatz through meadows and forests. Trails 8, 4 and 7 are used for this route. Along the way, the route passes the first farms of Santo Stefano, or Stefansdorf, and the Weliserhof farm before continuing to Reischach. This route allows the landscape to be experienced not only as a panorama, but also as a succession of farms, meadows and forest sections.

Another specific tour is the Haidenberg hiking trail. It begins at the car park near the Kneipp facility in Stefansdorf, or Santo Stefano, and follows Trail 4 for approximately one hour to the Haidenberg inn at an altitude of 1,280 meters. For winter days, this location provides clear orientation within the area, while the winter path to Haidenberg describes a separate way to travel through snow-covered surroundings. Haidenberg is a destination for tobogganing enthusiasts in winter. Before setting off on one of the toboggan runs in the Puster Valley, it is possible to stop at the hut. Stefansdorf, or Santo Stefano, also has a small ice rink.

Church, frescoes and regional bread traditions

The Church of Saints Stephen and Vitus in the center of Santo Stefano preserves frescoes created around 1500 and probably attributed to Simon von Taisten. This gives a walk through the village a cultural and historical connection, without focusing solely on the trails around Kronplatz.

Regional baking traditions are also among the special features of the Haidenberg Alpine village. On Wednesdays from 13:00 to 16:00, visitors were shown how traditional „Puschtra Breatl“ bread is baked in the old stone oven. In summer, the Haidenberg Alpine village hosted events including bread-baking sessions in the rustic stone oven. Visitors could watch the bread being made and take bread home with them. For families, this aspect opens up a different kind of holiday experience: alongside exercise and winter activities, a traditional craft takes center stage.
