Riscone: Kronplatz, Art and Mountain Trails

Riscone lies south of Brunico on a high plateau at the foot of Plan de Corones. The lifts from Riscone are considered one of the most important access points to Plan de Corones.

Village loop, indoor pool and bus connection

The CRON4 indoor pool is located in the centre of Riscone. Citybus 420.1 connects Brunico with the Chiesa stop in Riscone. The Riscone circular trail begins and ends at the church in the village centre and leads through Reischach and the surrounding cultural landscape.

Hiking on Kronplatz

Several trails offer different highlights. The AVS trail begins at the valley station of the cable car in Riscone-Reischach and leads through the forest along trail no. 6 to Kronplatz. The Concordia 360° Trail is an easy circular route around Kronplatz’s 2,275-metre-high plateau and can be reached by cable car from Riscone-Reischach. The Plan de Corones–Santo Stefano–Riscone hike follows trails nos. 8, 4 and 7 downhill through meadows and forests.

Art and special trail destinations

The „Kappler Stöckl“ chapel is a rest point along the Riscone circular trail; the panoramic trail begins near the Kneipp facility and leads to „Maria unterm Stoan“ or to the barbecue area. Works of art are integrated into the hiking trails around Reischach. On Kronplatz, Via Artis is an open-air art gallery at an altitude of 2,275 metres; its circular route is 7.2 kilometres long. The LUMEN Museum is located at the summit of Kronplatz, while MMM Corones can be reached by cable car from the direction of Brunico/Riscone to the summit of Plan de Corones.

Golf, biking and active days

For golf enthusiasts, the Golf Club Pustertal practice facility includes a driving range, a chipping green, a practice bunker, a putting green and a spacious pitching area. The descent of the Herrnsteig Trail is 8 kilometres long, overcomes 1,300 metres of elevation and runs along the northern slope of the mountain. To ride the Herrnsteig Trail, the journey from Riscone by gondola takes around 20 minutes to the summit of Plan de Corones.

Winter experiences around Riscone

The cross-country skiing area of Riscone offers the Reiperting, Riscone and S. Stefano routes. Near the sports area of Riscone, the Reischach/Riscone cross-country ski trail runs as a loop through snow-covered fields and meadows. The Korer toboggan run descends for 1 kilometre from the top station of the Korer gondola to the valley station, has an elevation difference of 150 metres and is considered particularly suitable for families with children.
