Prenn is a mountain village with easy access from the mountain station of the Verdins-Tall cable car to Prenn. The walking trail to Prenn is almost level and offers views over the Passeier Valley. This almost level route differs considerably from the route that branches downhill after the church.
Hiking trails with different access routes to Prenn
One hiking route leads from Oberkirn via Prenn and Untertall to Verdins. Prenn is reached via Trail No. 40A; after the church, the route branches downhill. The route runs along the southern slope of Tallner Berg. Another option is the hike from Klammeben to Prenn, which can also be reached from Scena by taking the Verdins cable car and the Tall-Grube chairlift.
To the starting point near Verdins
Bus route 231 from Merano to Scena/Verdins and hiking bus 234 from Scena to Verdins provide access to the starting point of the hike to Prenn near Verdins. A free car park is also available at the Verdins cable car station. The combination of regular bus service, hiking bus and car park allows the starting point at Verdins to be planned independently of a single form of arrival. Bus route 231 and hiking bus 234 differ in their origins and destinations: one connection comes from Merano, while the other comes from Scena.
Church, water mill and playground in Prenn
Prenn is home to the parish church of St John and Paul, considered an idyllic little church. Next to the church is a public children's playground, located 100 metres from Mountain Lodge Prennanger. Near the Sterneck inn, the restored Tonigbauernmühle water mill stands on the road towards Hochwies. The little church and the restored water mill add two distinct cultural accents to Prenn.
