Antermoia at the foot of Pütia

Antermoia lies at 1,515 metres above sea level, at the foot of Pütia, a striking massif in the Dolomites. When choosing a holiday apartment in Antermoia, this combination of a Dolomite backdrop, hiking trails and seasonal experiences provides a clear framework for your planning.

Nature between gorge and mineral spring

On the outskirts of Antermoia lie the traditional Valdander baths in a narrow, wooded gorge. About 100 metres from the baths, a mineral spring rises from the limestone of the Bellerophon layers. Its alkaline-earthy water is considered invigorating and healing. The combination of forest, rock and spring gives this part of the village a distinctive natural character, which you can discover on an excursion as well as during a mindful break between activities.

History of the name and sacred past

The history of Antermoia’s name can be traced back to three documented forms: “Undermoy” from 1263, “Antermoja” from 1482 and the Ladin form “Antermeja” from 1883. Antermoia is also home to the Chapel of Saint Anthony the Abbot, which was once an important subsidiary church. An indulgence certificate from 1500 associated with the chapel granted 100 days of indulgence for visiting the chapel on certain feast days, for confession or for a donation.

Hiking trails with different starting points

Hiking trail no. 8 begins opposite the church of Antermoia and leads to the bridge at Fidelis. From the craft zone, a 4-kilometre hiking route with 500 metres of elevation gain reaches Würzjoch in approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Another 4-kilometre route starts at the bottom station of the ski lift, follows hiking trail no. 8 and Fornela, and reaches Würzjoch with 480 metres of elevation gain in approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. These two details provide concrete guidance when choosing between different starting points and help you plan a suitable hiking day around your holiday apartment.

Summer trails and winter experiences

The Antermoia–Plaza–Plan Murin–Fidelis–Antermoia hiking trail can be used in summer and winter. In summer, the route from Börz towards Antermoia is a relaxed walking path through the forests at the foot of Pütia. A toboggan run also leads downhill from Börz towards Antermoia.

Skiing, cross-country skiing and the landscape around Börz

In Antermoia, lifts provide access to alpine skiing in winter. A cross-country skiing facility is available around Börz. The natural landscape around Börz and Würzjoch Pass lies at the entrance to the Puez-Odle Nature Park. When choosing a holiday apartment in Antermoia, it may therefore be decisive whether you would rather spend your holiday days alpine skiing in the village, cross-country skiing around Börz, or hiking and walking between Antermoia and Würzjoch.
