Baroque Art and Local History
The Chiesa della Confraternita di Santa Croce was built in 1718 according to a design by engineer Giovanni Antonio Sevalle, on the site of an earlier church. Its interior preserves an important collection of Baroque paintings, as well as an 18th-century reliquary made of silver filigree. Admission to the Chiesa della Confraternita di Santa Croce is free. The church thus combines a clearly dated construction history with preserved sacred furnishings.
In the historic town centre, history also emerges beyond the church. The single gilded bell of Rivalta di Torino's Torre civica still rings out the hours today. Of the Porta del Rivellino, the lower section with a round-arched opening has been preserved; remnants of the adjoining wall are still visible on either side. In addition, a large part of the ancient wall circuit of Rivalta di Torino's historic town centre has survived and remains visible. During a walk, the Torre civica, the gateway and the wall circuit thus appear as distinct historical traces.
Cycling along the Sangone: Greenway and Percorso J
Together with Beinasco, Piossasco, Bruino and Sangano, Rivalta di Torino forms the Greenway of the Sangone River Park. Along with the four other municipalities, this network extends beyond Rivalta di Torino's town centre. The Bicigrill is located along the cycling route. It offers catering services and a bicycle workshop, while also serving as a station for cycling routes. Catering services and the bicycle workshop are therefore directly connected to the cycling route.
The 35 km-long Percorso J cycle path also passes through Rivalta di Torino. It runs from the bridge over the Sangone between Bruino and Rivalta towards Rivalta di Torino's historic centre. The length of 35 km is a fixed reference for personal route planning. It makes it possible to distinguish between the complete route and a shorter section without changing the route described. The bridge over the Sangone between Bruino and Rivalta and the historic centre remain the geographical reference points.
Tomino and the Sagra del Tomino
The Sagra del Tomino includes tastings dedicated to Tomino cheese. It takes place every year in Rivalta di Torino and attracts numerous visitors. Tomino is the focus of the tastings at this event. The Sagra thus provides a recurring culinary highlight alongside the town's historical traces and cycling routes.
