A Hilltop with a Long History
The centre of Casalborgone developed at the top of a hill around the castle. The first written mention of a settlement in the present-day Casalborgone area comes from a document issued on 7 May 999. After conservation restoration, Castello di Casalborgone reopened as a boutique hotel.
Churches and Historical Traces
San Siro is a medieval church on a hill near the hamlet of Madonnina. To access the church, keys are issued at the parish house next to the parish church of San Carlo, Piazza Carlo Bruna 5 in Casalborgone. Santa Maria Maddalena was once the castle chapel and was expanded over the centuries. The Church of the Santissima Trinità was built in the 18th century out of gratitude for having come through the war against the French army relatively unscathed.
A small ricetto was built next to the castle at the end of the 10th century. The ruins of a small tower and an entrance gate dating from the 16th century have survived to this day. Teatro San Carlo is also one of the town’s notable cultural venues: it reopened in October 2025 after extensive renovation.

A woodland ridge trail runs through Bosc Grand, connecting Bric Cerro with Bric Turniola. In Bosc Grand, Ro Verda is considered a rare, centuries-old oak and a hybrid of Turkey oak and cork oak.

The traditional Fiera della Nocciola in Casalborgone promotes regional products, handicrafts and other specialities of the local area. On 20 September 2026, as part of the Festa Patronale della Madonnina, the Fiera della Nocciola will include a market and exhibition at Piazzale Gaiato in Casalborgone.
The local pea also contributes to the area’s culinary character: it is recognised by the Piedmont Region as a traditional agricultural and food product. Among other things, the Sagra del Pisello offers Gogu, a tortellone filled with peas.
