Pasturana lies in a gently hilly landscape on the northern edge of the Gavi DOCG area, where the agricultural landscape gives way to the first elevations of Oltregiogo. At the same time, the municipality is one of the places in the Gavi DOCG area where winemaking is a historic part of the agricultural landscape. Woodland trails, waterworks and churches complement this connection with wine by providing distinctive local features.

Woodland Landscape and Trails Along the Rio Riasco

The Passeggiata di San Martino follows Braghera Road through the woods and runs along the Rio Riasco. The trail thus connects the woodland along Braghera Road with the Rio Riasco watercourse.

The Canalone and the Pasturana Mill

The Canalone is a structure made of hewn stone that carried water from a channel fed by the Rio Riasco over the Rio Torto, thereby supplying the Pasturana mill.

Antica Pieve di San Martino

The Antica Pieve di San Martino was built during the Lombard period and later became a Benedictine monastic settlement. It was recently restored and structurally consolidated. Today, each side has four brick pillars, each with four wooden roof trusses. Its walls are partly made of bricks and river stones and partly of rammed earth using the pisé technique; at the rear are three arches made of unfired bricks. The building materials alternate between brick and wood, river stones, rammed earth and unfired bricks. A small church has also survived in the former monastery area; it was probably the baptistery.

Parish Church and Church Oratory

The parish church of San Martino has a gabled façade, an entrance portal framed by a neoclassical portal with a fresco above it, and a bell tower. Next to the parish church is the Santissima Trinità church oratory, which was also built by the Trotti family. The neoclassical portal, fresco and bell tower complement the parish church's architectural details.

Wine, Producers and Festivals

Along the Gavi DOCG Route, visits and tastings can be arranged with the producers based there. The route connects the area's historic winemaking tradition with its local producers and the possible visits and tastings. Events also shape the annual calendar: a cyclocross race takes place in November on the occasion of the San Martino patron saint's festival. The Sagra del Corzetto took place in Pasturana from September 5, 2025, to September 7, 2025, and is considered the town's oldest traditional festival as well as its 52nd edition. The dates therefore fall in two months: September 2025 for the Sagra and November for the cyclocross race.
