The Cittadella di Alessandria is one of the most significant European monuments of permanent fortification architecture from the 18th century. Palatium Vetus is considered the oldest public palace in the city of Alessandria. Its art collection comprises more than 800 works from the 15th century to the present day. The historic seat, its remains and the art collection have been reopened to citizens, students and tourists. During the work, parts of the original medieval core with triforium windows, frescoes and interior decorations were uncovered. The Sale d'Arte are open to the public and display significant works and art objects from the collections of Alessandria. These include late-medieval wall frescoes from the late 14th century inspired by the stories surrounding King Arthur, as well as paintings by Giovanni Migliara (1785–1837) and works of 19th-century genre and landscape painting. An accessible side entrance with a ramp and lift provides access; the exhibition rooms can be visited independently.

The Teatro delle Scienze comprises the Museo di Scienze Naturali, a planetarium and an astronomy laboratory. In the Museo di Scienze Naturali, a natural history tour leads to rocks, minerals and fossils; a scale model of the river landscape of the Alessandria area is also on display. The planetarium projects a starry sky with 6,500 stars and enables simulations of constellations and celestial movements.
