Castello di Mombello was partially destroyed between 1300 and 1400 and made habitable again from the end of the 16th century by Bartolomeo Malaspina. It is dedicated to Saint Gottardo, who has been venerated in a small votive chapel since the 17th century; according to tradition, he saved a child from a pair of runaway oxen.

Towards the end of October, Mombello hosts a chestnut festival dedicated to chestnuts, where porcini mushrooms are also offered.
