Fabbrica Curone Among Trails and Peaks

Thanks to its location, Fabbrica Curone is ideal for trekking, walking, horse riding, mountain biking and skiing, and has numerous marked trails.

Marked Trails with Different Profiles

The Sentiero Fabbrica Curone–Selvapiana begins in the village of Fabbrica Curone opposite the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta. It initially follows a paved road and then continues as an unpaved path marked by the CAI with trail number 104. The trail is classified as category E, is 6.93 km long and has an indicated walking time of 2 hours.

The Sentiero Serra del Monte–Fabbrica Curone descends towards Fabbrica Curone along a panoramic ridge trail between downy oaks, manna ashes and black pines; some sections have a steep gradient. The Sentiero Caldirola–Monte Ebro is also classified as a category E trail, is 4.77 km long and has an indicated walking time of 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The Sentiero Caldirola–Monte Ebro reaches Monte Ebro at an altitude of 1,700 m. In clear weather, the summit offers a 360-degree view of the Alps and the Ligurian Sea. You can use the different trail lengths and walking times to compare them when planning your day.

Culture and Rural Heritage

The Museo della Civiltà Contadina “Lunassi” preserves tools, equipment, machinery, documents and objects that illustrate the historical rural life of the mountains. It is divided into 26 sections and contains more than 600 exhibits, of which only about half are currently on display. In the hamlet of Lunassi, the Circolo Lunassese regularly demonstrates the traditional production of charcoal (Carbonaia).

The Museo della Civiltà Contadina “Morigliassi” covers approximately 300 m² and contains more than 2,000 original objects, including several rare pieces. Following continuous religious use, the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta continues to serve as a parish church. It dates from the 12th or 13th century and has three naves.

Above the entrance portal of the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta is a bas-relief in local stone featuring complex zoomorphic symbolism.

Caldirola for Cycling and Winter Sports

The Caldirola Bike Park has 11 trails: 4 downhill, 3 freeride, 3 all-mountain and 1 cross-country trail. They include jumps of varying difficulty, bypasses for less experienced riders, berms and technically demanding sections. The trails are located on the slopes of Monte Gropà and Monte Giarolo and can be reached by chairlift.

Caldirola has four downhill ski slopes, including a practice area for beginners, as well as a cross-country ski trail on the slopes of Monte Gropà. Caldirola is the only winter sports resort in the province of Alessandria. The Caldirola chairlift runs from the village of La Gioia at 1,110 m in the municipality of Fabbrica Curone to Monte Gropà at 1,446 m.

Agricultural Education Activities

For families and groups of children, Fattoria L'Aurora organises educational activities focused on agriculture and livestock farming. These include educational horse-riding activities in the mountains for beginners.
