Montesoffio between trails, mountains and regional cuisine

Montesoffio combines an ecomuseum loop trail with rural paths, open terrain, mountain views, historic sites and regional cuisine. The ecomuseum loop trail begins at the former school in Montesoffio.

Via Cal Fazio and the Geological Trail

Via Cal Fazio is a rural road in the Montesoffio area that had recently been upgraded at that time. It is a steep gravel road that leads into open terrain after just a few metres. On Via Cal Fazio, the gravel and gradient influence the rhythm of a walk; the transition into open terrain comes early. When planning a walk along this section, pace and surface conditions can be taken into account.

The Sentiero Geologico di Ca’ Palmiere is located in Località Montesoffio. When Urbino Outdoor was introduced, it was part of a network of seven CAI routes that had been mapped, signposted on site and georeferenced. At that time, these trails could be walked or cycled.

The Ca’ Palmiere–San Cipriano route is also one of three circular tours in the Urbino Outdoor project. As a circular tour, it covers the route between Ca’ Palmiere and San Cipriano, not just a single outward journey. The circular tour is therefore not reduced to a straight outward route; its complete course is part of its form.

Ca’ Palmiere, ridge and mining park

The trail then descends over a ridge with panoramic views of the Monte Nerone mountain range. A trail in the mining park passes through coppiced stands of manna ash and hornbeam and ends in a broad clearing at the foot of the summit of Monte di Cal Palmiere. The Monte Nerone mountain range forms the focal point of the ridge view, while manna ash and hornbeam characterise the coppice woodland.
