The approach to the Passeggiata alle Lame Rosse begins at the roundabout at the entrance to Trebbio’s historic centre. From there, follow the signs towards Sarnano–Bolognola downhill to the lake.

Castello Magalotti and the History of San Paolo

Castello Magalotti is located on a hill in the hamlet of Trebbio. Its fortified surrounding wall also enclosed the Benedictine Church of San Paolo. The surviving complex includes the western section of the fortification and two longitudinally bisected cylindrical towers with loopholes. The keep contains a domed hall and four deep radial niches. These details make the complex particularly interesting for visitors who want to discover not only trails but also historic architectural forms during their stay.

The Chiesa di San Paolo was renovated in the Romanesque style between the 10th and 11th centuries. Due to structural damage, it is currently inaccessible; visits are therefore limited to the exterior. For your day planning, this means that the church should be regarded as an external element of the historic setting, while Castello Magalotti, with its preserved fortification elements, forms a separate focal point.
