Holiday apartment in Ripe San Ginesio: art, trails and village culture

Art and history in the historic center

Ripe San Ginesio reveals its distinctive character where historic architecture and contemporary art meet. In the Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, a church of Benedictine origin in the historic center, the building dates back to the 14th century. Inside, there is a fresco from 1573 depicting the Crucifixion, as well as Saint James and Saint Blaise. It was uncovered during restoration work in 1964.

The Pinacoteca Comunale d’Arte Contemporanea also represents the town’s connection with art. Its collection was created through donations from artists who took part in RipeArte. The contemporary art exhibition has been documented since 1982 and was held in the lanes and squares of the village. In the Parco Sculture, you can also encounter installations by important 20th-century artists, integrated into the townscape and the surrounding landscape.

Hiking and cycling through the countryside

For active days, the seventh stage of the Cammino dei Passi Azzurri passes through the area around Ripe San Ginesio. The circular route is 160 kilometers long and divided into nine stages. In addition, the surrounding area offers numerous trails that can be explored on foot or by e-bike.

The Anello della Val di Fiastra circular route also passes through the area around Ripe San Ginesio, with stages 4 and 5. This gives you the opportunity to discover the town, its landscapes and the surrounding natural environment. The different stage details provide a helpful basis for assessing the scope of your excursions before choosing accommodation.

Events and creative experiences

Arena La Cava was created in 2013 by transforming a disused quarry and is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic center. In summer, it hosts events, performances, exhibitions and artistic performances. The Borgofuturo Festival takes place in July among the stone houses or in the old quarry on the outskirts of Ripe San Ginesio.

Terre d’Arte offers ceramics courses and workshops for children and adults, making it interesting for families and several generations. Sartoria Ètico offers creative workshops for all age groups and works with botanical dyes and the ecoprinting technique on natural fabrics. At Samuela Salvucci Draw for you, unique pieces of jewelry are created; creative workshops and individually designed events are also offered there.
