Holiday apartment in Trepuzzi: Culture, Coast and Festivals
A holiday apartment in Trepuzzi offers you a holiday among distinctive architecture, religious traditions, lively festivals and the Adriatic coast. The town is particularly interesting if you do not want to view culture separately from everyday regional life: Palazzo Barrile-Spinelli, the mother church, processions and the coastal resort of Casalabate each add a different note. For families, this creates a varied mix of discoveries, events and experiences by the sea.
Architecture and Sacred History
Palazzo Barrile-Spinelli, commonly known as “Castello Nuovo”, is a fortified residence commissioned by the Condò, the feudal lords of Trepuzzi, at the beginning of the 17th century. Its trapezoidal floor plan, quadrangular courtyard and two levels give the building a clearly comprehensible architectural structure. The palazzo includes a chapel dedicated to the holy apostles James and Philip, built before 1640 through the devotion of Gian Domenico Condò from Lecce.
The Chiesa di Maria Santissima Assunta in Cielo is Trepuzzi’s mother church. It was built in 1603 on the site of a smaller existing building.
Festivals with Music, Parades and Local Products
The Festa di San Raffaele Arcangelo is celebrated every year on the fourth Sunday in October with civil and religious festivities in honour of the holy Archangel Raphael, the patron saint of travellers. The festival includes a procession through the streets of Trepuzzi, accompanied by the music of a brass band. There is also an animal and livestock fair with stalls offering tastings of local products.
At the 2026 Carnevale Trepuzzino “Cultura e Immaginario”, the masked groups gathered on Sunday, 22 February 2026, at 2:30 p.m. in the market area on Via Gramsci. The parade began at 3:00 p.m. and ended with performances at around 4:30 p.m. in Largo Margherita. Bande a Sud Kids is also aimed at children: workshops and events on 29 July and between 11 and 13 August promote the passing on of the tradition to younger generations.
Casalabate and the Adriatic Coast
Casalabate is the marina of the municipality of Trepuzzi and a tourism-oriented coastal resort on the Adriatic Sea. The southern part belongs to the municipality of Trepuzzi, while the northern part belongs to the municipality of Squinzano. This means Trepuzzi can be combined with a coastal area whose municipal affiliation is shared.
For inclusive experiences in the open sea, AbilBeach provides accessible, transparent kayaks. AbilBeach is also a free, accessible beach service in Casalabate, the marina of Trepuzzi, near “Bar del Sole” beach on Via San Giuseppe.
