Bobenthal is located in the cross-border Palatinate Forest/Northern Vosges Biosphere Reserve. At the same time, the village lies at the meeting point of the Palatinate Forest, the German Wine Route and Alsace. The Wieslauter flows through Bobenthal; protected animal and plant species can be found in the nearby natural areas.

Three local trails are listed for hiking under the names Grubenweg, Hasenkopf-Runde and Hirzeck-Gipfel-Steig. The listed waypoints include the Bobenthal Hut, the Nothweiler ore mine, the ruins of the former Siebenteil forester's house, the Bobenthaler Knopf core zone, the Hirzeck summit and several springs.
Historic buildings include the partly solidly constructed half-timbered house at Hauptstraße 6, dating from the 18th century, as well as the half-timbered house at Hauptstraße 7, for which the years 1726 and 1763 are documented. St. Michael's Church was built in 1779.
St. Michael's Church houses the protected Ubhaus organ from 1817. The Ubhaus organ in Bobenthal has remained almost unchanged for more than two centuries. The oldest item of church furnishings is a no longer used pulpit from 1780, attributed to the Rococo period.
The European Monument at St. Germanshof is open to visitors all year round. It commemorates a gathering of several hundred students from nine European countries.
The cross-border cycle path along the Wieslauter runs through Bobenthal towards St. Germanshof and onwards to France and Wissembourg.

The Bobenthal hikers' car park near the Siebenteil Bridge is accessible to hikers all year round.
