Hausen (Wied) is located on the Wied River in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park, southwest of Waldbreitbach. The town has a rural character and is a state-recognized climatic health resort.
The nearby Kreuzkapelle is located in the municipality of Waldbreitbach, but was regarded as being on the outskirts of Hausen. It was built in 1694 and became a pilgrimage site in the 18th century.
