Since 1966, the Deutscher Eisenbahn-Verein e.V. has operated Germany’s first museum railway between Bruchhausen-Vilsen and Asendorf. The line, which is over 100 years old and 8 kilometres long, with eight stations and stops, has been preserved as a living open-air museum. This means the railway itself is not the only attraction: the line and its stations are also part of this historic experience. The Potato Market is held annually on the first Sunday in October. It is accompanied by a flea market and a Sunday opening for local shops.
