Anyone looking to rent a holiday apartment in Friedrichsthal can then continue searching for accommodation. Friedrichsthal is located in the Havel lowlands: the southern section is covered by pine forests, while the north consists of meadows and pastures along the Havel and the Malzer Canal.

Village Character

The preserved historic village center lies directly on the Oder-Havel Canal and includes the village church and two inns. The canal in Friedrichsthal can be crossed on foot or by bicycle via a footbridge and cycle bridge; it replaced the former passenger ferry.

History

The former Friedrichsthal Palace extended from today’s village square toward the Havel. Its remaining buildings were demolished in 1875; a stone coat of arms set into the village church commemorates the site. The church was built between 1895 and 1897.

A memorial plaque on Grabowseestraße commemorates the circus strongman Siegmund Breitbart, who spent part of his life in Friedrichsthal and owned a villa there. On Friedrichsthaler Chaussee, colonist houses preserve the history of French-Swiss immigration and the village’s former 18th-century clockmaking industry.
