Oranienburg Palace was built in 1651 for Princess Louise Henriette of Orange, later expanded and furnished in 1689, and is described as one of the important Baroque buildings in the Margraviate of Brandenburg.
The palace is said to have been given the name Oranienburg in 1652 in honour of Louise Henriette of Orange, and the town of Bötzow is said to have been renamed Oranienburg a year later.
