Accommodation in Pastetten
Pastetten offers specific starting points for a stay: the Catholic branch church of St. Sylvester brings together several periods of architectural history, and on Carnival Sunday a procession sets off from the maypole, travels through the village and returns to its starting point. The wider Erding destination adds museums, guided city tours and trails as further themes.
Culture and Carnival in Pastetten
The Catholic branch church of St. Sylvester is located at Isener Straße 3 in Pastetten. At its core, its hall structure is probably medieval; the complex includes a narrower choir and a west tower with a multi-tiered onion dome. The church was given a Baroque makeover in the 17th century. In 1766, Johann Baptist Lethner redesigned it. The different construction phases give the building a layered history: its medieval core, Baroque renovation and later redesign each belong to a different chapter.
The Pastetten rectory is another building worth seeing for its connection to the village’s history. It was built in 1854 and has since received the district’s façade award. Together with the church, it offers a specific reason to explore different forms of historic architecture in Pastetten, without assuming that the two buildings form a single ensemble.
A carnival procession starts at the maypole in Pastetten at 1 p.m. on Carnival Sunday. It makes a circuit through the village and returns to the maypole. Afterwards, the area around the maypole comes alive with colourful carnival festivities and fun. This places an event itinerary alongside the architectural history: the starting point, the route through the village and the festivities afterwards are all clearly defined.
