La Commanderie is located on the site of a Roman oppidum and a later priory dating from the 12th to the 17th century. It was important as a strategic intermediate observation post overlooking the Canal de Savières and the Rhône. In Vions, the Four des Granges is also considered the oldest oven.

Nature
The ViaRhôna passes through Vions on its route between Ruffieux and Chanaz. From Vions railway station, the ViaRhôna can be continued by TER train towards Aix-les-Bains.

The Halte Kayak has a ramp for launching kayaks. The long-distance hiking trail GR 65 towards Santiago de Compostela is signposted in Vions.
