Valloire: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In summer, Valloire offers 14,000 hectares of hiking trails between alpine pastures, famous mountain passes and alpine panoramas. They range from the Col du Télégraphe at 1,556 m to the Col du Galibier at 2,642 m. Free shuttle buses connect Valloire with its hamlets via eight routes in winter and summer. In winter, Valloire has a well-maintained network of cross-country ski trails for beginners as well as experienced cross-country skiers; the routes are suitable for both classic technique and skating. Culture

The Fort du Télégraphe was built between 1885 and 1893 on the site of a relay station of the optical Chappe telegraph on the imperial Paris–Milan line. From the car park at the Col du Télégraphe, it can be reached via a small road in about ten minutes. In summer, the fort is accessible exclusively as part of guided tours offered by the Guides du Patrimoine Savoie-Mont-Blanc and FACIM.

The Baroque Eglise Notre Dame de l’Assomption in Valloire is an example of 17th-century Savoyard Baroque and was consecrated in 1682. Its features include a high altarpiece, a choir vault with plaster stucco, side altarpieces, altar paintings from the Dufour family and frescoes in the nave. Valloire consists of 17 hamlets, each of which has its own chapel.

The straw and hay sculptures of Valloire are located on the Route des Grandes Alpes at the exit of the hamlet of Les Verneys, between the centre of Valloire and the Galibier. The sculptures on display remain visible until All Saints’ Day. In summer, their location can be reached by shuttle, on foot in 40 minutes via a hiking trail from the centre of Valloire, or by using the free parking facilities nearby.

Nature

Lac des Cerces is located in the Massif des Cerces and offers views of the Grand Galibier and the Aiguilles d’Arves. The hike to the lake is considered accessible to most visitors. The route leads from Valloire along Route 902 towards the Col du Galibier, past the hamlet of Bonnenuit, to the free Plan Lachat car park. In summer, Plan Lachat is served by some shuttle buses. The Buvette du Galibier, a refreshment stop known for its fresh-fruit tarts, is also located along the route to Lac des Cerces.

Winter

The Galibier-Thabor ski area offers 160 km of skiing across five slopes.
