Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Around 1860, Saint-Genix gained considerable renown thanks to the Gâteau Labully. The recipe for the Gâteau Labully, which became the Gâteau de Saint-Genix over the years, has been passed down from father to son ever since.

Culture

The original hinges are still in place at the Porte du Faubourg. After the Porte du Faubourg was damaged by a lorry, it was rebuilt by the municipality. Parts of the former town walls of Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers are still preserved along the Guiers.

The confluence of the Rhône and Guiers was historically an important transport hub connecting Vienne with Italy and Geneva. After seven kilometres, the Chapelle de Pigneux offers a place to stop before reaching Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers.

Cuisine

The Gâteau de Saint-Genix is a brioche filled with pink pralines. La Praline Buissonnière is a culinary walking tour held on the second Sunday in October. The Grand Chapitre des Gâteau de Saint-Genix takes place on 8 May in even-numbered years.
