Activities
La Rosière Bike Park has four downhill trails and six enduro and e-bike circuits with up to 1,200 metres of elevation gain. A marked route in the bike park connects France and Italy; it is accessible to mountain bikes and e-bikes and has charging stations along the route.
Le Chemin des Ecoliers is a circular hike through the hamlets, chapels and traditional houses of Montvalezan, passing, among other places, the Chapelle Saint-Michel in Châtelard. The route takes 2 hours and 40 minutes, is of moderate difficulty and is located in La Rosière–Montvalezan. It is signposted year-round; in winter, snow conditions must be checked, and snowshoes may be required.
Le Chemin des Bergers is a difficult hike of approximately 2 hours and 50 minutes around the Combe des Moulins, starting at Plan de l’Arc in La Rosière–Montvalezan. The trail passes through Plan Pigeux and Putétruit before returning to the leisure area at Plan de l’Arc.
Culture
The hamlets of Montvalezan are characterised by stone and wooden houses, slate roofs and compact construction. Montvalezan comprises around forty hamlets, many of which were organised around former agricultural activities.
Several chapels in Montvalezan feature Baroque elements characteristic of the religious art of Savoy. The parish complex of Montvalezan includes a tower classified as a Monument historique, which was built in 1674.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Liesse in Le Villaret contains an altar, an altarpiece and associated furnishings from the 18th century.
The Chapelle Saint-Michel in Châtelard was part of the 2026 summer programme, during which the chapels of Montvalezan were opened to the public.
The Église Saint Jean-Baptiste is open for free visits on Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in July and August.
