Montagnole is located in the Chartreuse Massif and stretches from 400 to 1,485 metres in altitude at the foot of Pointe de la Gorgeat. In the Savoie department, the village is part of the Chartreuse Regional Nature Park.
On stage 5 of the Traversée de Chartreuse, the route passes near the Ruisseau des Pontets and its small waterfalls in Montagnole. During the descent towards Montagnole, unobstructed views open up over Lac du Bourget and the Cluse de Chambéry. This stage is accessible outside the snowy season and in favourable weather conditions.
Activities
The Ecurie de Montagnole offers traditional horse riding under the guidance of state-certified instructors. It is located on a five-hectare site at the foot of Mont Granier.

The Église Saint-André in Montagnole was built in 1851. Le Montagn’Art serves hot and cold drinks, including organic and/or local products, as well as homemade sweets.
