Fort de la Platte (Fort 2000) was built between 1893 and 1896 and offers an exceptional viewpoint over the upper Isère Valley.
As a whole, including the structure and plot no. 1130, Fort de la Platte was listed as a historic monument by decree of 3 July 2024.
Culture and history
The Baroque church of Saint-Martin de Tours in Hauteville-Gondon was rebuilt in 1691. Its vault keystones feature original polychrome stucco relief motifs that were revealed and highlighted during the restoration work; according to the municipality, they are unique among the Baroque churches of Savoie.
The Arc 1600 and Arc 1800 resorts now bear the “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” (ACR) label, after previously being awarded the “Patrimoine du XXe siècle” designation.
In Bourg-Saint-Maurice–Les Arcs, Micro-Folie is located at La Friche. The modular digital museum space is overseen by the French Ministry of Culture and opened in June 2023. Micro-Folie offers additional virtual reality activities, including an augmented-reality immersion in Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral.
Nature and activities
Parc des Marais is a 30-hectare natural area in the centre of Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
The Voie Verte follows a 24-kilometre route along the Isère between Aime and Villaroger, passing through Bourg-Saint-Maurice. It is accessible to pedestrians, cyclists, scooter riders, pushchairs and kick scooters; the gradient is slight.
The Centre Nautique de Bourg-Saint-Maurice has two indoor pools, including a 25-metre competition pool. The mini-golf course in front of the Centre Nautique has nine holes themed around the destination’s outdoor activities.
Bourg-Saint-Maurice also has an international white-water centre.
Local life and food
The Coopérative Laitière de Haute-Tarentaise has a two-storey museum area covering 300 m². It is dedicated to the cooperative, its mountain pastures and AOP Beaufort cheese.
The weekly market in Bourg-Saint-Maurice offers local products and takes place year-round every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Bourg-Saint-Maurice tourist office is located at the SNCF railway station and close to the town centre, the Voie Verte and the funicular.
