Avressieux: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Coopérative laitière d’Avressieux offers a freely accessible tour of the outdoor area. In the morning, visitors can watch the production process; information panels provide details about the history and production of Fromages de Savoie.

Culture and history

The Église Saint-Pierre d’Avressieux stands on a slight hill and offers unobstructed views of the surrounding hills. It was founded in the 12th century; the present building preserves Romanesque elements, including the lower section of the nave walls built from local molasse stone. The choir was rebuilt in the 17th century with a gilded wooden altarpiece in the Savoyard Baroque style.

At the center of the Avressieux cemetery stands a mausoleum that Marie had built in memory of her husband Claude Marie Giraud and which houses his remains.

In the wider region around Avressieux is the Artothèque de Chambéry museum. The historic sites Les Charmettes, Le Couvent des Bernardines Belley and Abbaye d’Hautecombe are also located there.

Château de Montfleury was extensively rebuilt over the centuries and is considered the last fortress of the Avant-Pays savoyard.

Local life

The Les Champs Gourmands producers’ market in Avressieux offers vegetables, bread and organic eggs from Ferme des Champs Gourmands. The selection is supplemented by other producers, who change weekly.

Landscape and nature

Around Avressieux are St Alban Plage beach, Mont Chaffaron mountain, Mont Tournier mountain and Mont de Cordon mountain.

The drained marshland of Avressieux is popular with walkers.
