Aime: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Aime was known as Axima and was the capital of the province of Alpes Graies in 21 BC. The Musée archéologique d'Aime is classified as a “Musée de France” and presents archaeological evidence from the Neolithic period to the modern era. Visits and reception there are provided jointly with La Plagne Vallée.

History

The Basilique Saint-Martin is an 11th-century basilica with frescoes dating from the late 12th to early 13th century, as well as a crypt. It was built on the foundations of a Roman civic basilica and houses a lapidary museum.

Château Montmayeur is a 13th-century tower that was remodelled in the 15th century and became the residence of the Sires Montmayeur. The exhibition there explains the valley's traditional architecture with models, drawings and soundscapes.

Culture

The Eglise Notre-Dame houses a “Vierge allaitant” dating from the mid-14th century. It was extended at the end of the 17th century and displays features of Baroque art.

The guided tour “Les secrets des édifices d'Aime” takes place every Tuesday in summer and is led by a Guide du patrimoine.

Paths and Circular Walks

The Parcours historique d'Aime et ses villages is an interactive tour that can be followed by smartphone to discover Aime's architectural heritage. It is free of charge and available every day year-round.

The Sentier de Grumailly is a moderately difficult circular hike covering 8 km, with a walking time of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and 350 m of ascent. As a balcony trail, it runs between the town, vineyards and traditional buildings.
