Culture and History

The Église Saint-Laurent is a neo-Gothic church built from red bricks from 1885 onwards and dedicated to the patron saint of glassworkers. It is open only during services. The Église Saint-Pancrace dates from the pre-Romanesque period, more precisely from the second half of the 10th century, and was rebuilt in the 16th century in the Flamboyant Gothic style.

The history of the town also includes the Croix Saint-Jacques, a 16th-century cross near the Saint James Way. The Cité Saint-Laurent comprises around thirty aligned, partly symmetrical slag-stone houses that were formerly inhabited by glassworkers.

Hiking and Trails

The Circuit des Balmes is a 13 km circular hiking trail starting in Veauche. It combines urban paths with trails through the countryside and has less than 50 metres of elevation gain. The trail offers views of a river or watercourse and passes through woodland, rural landscapes and the town centre.

The first stage of the GR®3, La Loire Forézienne, leads from the Loire bridge in Veauche via Montrond-les-Bains to the bridge near Feurs. It is an easy 13.0 km hiking stage and allows you to discover the local flora and fauna along the water. Veauche can be visited independently and without a guide.

Parc Magniny features 7,000 m² of tree-lined paths, relaxation areas and play facilities for young children.
