Savigneux: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Nature at the Étang de Savigneux
One of the defining places in Savigneux is the Étang de Savigneux, a preserved 10-hectare natural area in the heart of the municipality. A 1.6-kilometre footpath encircles the body of water. Pedal boats can be hired at the Étang for a trip on the water; there is also a 14-hole mini-golf course and landscaped fishing spots around the water.
The Vizézy River runs through Savigneux. The municipality has a hilly landscape characteristic of the Plaine du Forez.
Those choosing Savigneux as a travel destination can consider renting a holiday apartment as part of their travel planning.
Golf and Water Landscapes
Golf des Étangs offers an 18-hole golf course. Its grounds cover 42 hectares and include nine ponds.
Culture and History
The Micro-Folie in Savigneux offers an immersive cultural experience combining digital media, live arts and cultural outreach.
The Saint-Nizier Priory, later Sainte-Croix, is one of the oldest monasteries in the Forez, along with those in Montverdun and Ambierle. Only a round-arched portal, flanked by two building wings, remains on the site. It is believed to have been founded in the 10th century by the Counts of Lyon and Forez.
The Château de Merlieu replaced a fortified house during the Renaissance. In 1593, the Maison forte de Morenol, later Château de Montrouge, was surrounded by moats and a drawbridge.
Landscape and Paths
The width of the walls of the Pont canal allows pedestrians to pass along the banks of the canal, which are fitted with metal railings. Thanks to the departmental roads D60, D204 and D496, Savigneux has an excellent road network.
